Third-Ranked Harvard Surges Late To Top #4 Princeton For Compton Cup

The third-ranked Harvard Crimson stamped itself as the favorite for the 2011 EARC Championship next month, but the Princeton varsity eight showed that it will be one of the prime contenders when the two teams meet again on Lake Quinsigamond for the Eastern Sprints on May 15.

Light Men and Open Women Win, Heavies Fall in Close One

Three Tiger squads were in action today.  The Open Women travelled to Derby to meet up with  Yale and Ohio State.  The 1V won by a little over three seconds and the victory returned the Eisenberg Cup to Princeton.  The Tigers also won the 2V and 3V.  All of the crews had to overcome some significant conditions and strong winds on the course.  You can find the GoPrincetonTigers.com race recap HERE.

The Light Men travelled up to Ithaca to meet up with Cornell.  The Tiger 1V pressed out to an early lead in fast conditions and stretched their lead out to a little over one length by finish.  The win returned the Platt Cup to Princeton for the 4th straight year.  The Tiger 2V also won by about a boat length, while the Tiger 1F fell to Cornell by about a boat length and 3V fell by some open water.  The GoPrincetonTigers.com race recap is posted HERE

The Heavy Men met up with Harvard here on Lake Carnegie.  The 1V race was an incredible battle, with the lead changing several times down the course and no crew leading by more than a seat or two along the way.  Harvard was able to break through Princeton's slim lead with about 300 to go to win the Compton Cup over the Tigers by about 2 seats.  Video from the 1V race is posted HERE.  Harvard also won the 2V, 1F and 3V races.  The GoPrincetonTigers race recap is posted HERE.

Undefeated, Top-Ranked Men's Lights Retain Platt Cup With Win At #4 Cornell

The top-ranked Princeton men's lightweight crew remained undefeated on the 2011 season with its first road victory of the year. The Tigers defeated fourth-ranked Cornell by about one length to retain the Platt Cup on the Cayuga Inlet.

Top-Ranked Open Women Knock Off Ivy Champ To Stay Perfect On Season

The top-ranked Princeton open women ran its regular season win streak to 22 and retained the Eisenberg Cup with a hard-fought victory over both No. 10 Ohio State and No. 11 Yale Saturday morning on the Housatonic River at Yale.
