Tigers Have Strong Showing in Girls and Women in Sports Day
The Princeton open women had a strong showing at the Girls and Women in Sports Day at Jadwin Gym last Sunday. The Department of Athletics sponsored an event for youngsters in the community to come try and learn about the many different sports offered at Princeton. The event was in support of the nationwide effort to teach younger generations about the value of sports.
Head Coach Lori Dauphiny, Sarah Wiley '13, Ashton Brown '11, Kelly Pierce, '12, Heidi Robbins '13, Astrid Wettstein '13, and Julia Stoner '14 were coaches at the event, equipped with four ergs as teaching tools.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day was chartered by Congress in 1986 in memory of former U.S. Olympic volleyball team captain Flo Hyman, honoring her athletic achievements and her work to assure equality for women's sports.
