1948
Lake Carnegie plays host to the Olympic trials for the first time, where Princeton would finish third in the finals to California and Harvard. Perhaps more impor- tantly, the debut of photo finish equipment and the over- all success of the trials cemented Lake Carnegie's posi- tion as one of the premier rowing venues in the country and foreshadowed the lake's future as the host of numer- ous other Olympic and National Team trials.
1949
The Tiger lights win the Thames Cup at Henley for the second year in a row. No lightweight crew had done that before (read on to learn which has done it since). Fifty years later, the crew would return to Henley to celebrate the golden anniversary of its championship and cheer on a Princeton light- weight / heavyweight composite boat, which would advance to the Temple Cup final.
