Program Information
Heavyweight Men
The Princeton men's heavyweight program is among the most successful in the country and our record is a great source of pride. Over the past fifteen years, the heavyweight varsity 8+ has won five Eastern Sprints titles (1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, and 2006) and two IRA National Championships (1996 and 1998). The heavyweight program has won the Sprints all-points trophy in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2005.
Openweight Women
Princeton women's crews have enjoyed a 20-year run since 1990 that places them among the country's elite programs. The open women's team has won twenty-nine gold medals at the Eastern Sprints and fourteen national championships. The varsity openweights won forty-five consecutive dual race victories from 1990-1995, and in 2006 went undefeated in the regular season before winning gold at the Eastern Sprints and the NCAA Championship.
Lightweight Men
The Princeton Men's Lightweight Rowing has had a tremendous record of success over the years, and is currently experiencing one of its best runs of success in its long history. The Tiger Lights have won the prestigious Eastern Sprints Varsity 8+ Title 15 times , the IRA National Championship (contested by Lights since 1990) 5 times, and the Eastern Sprints Jope Cup Team Point Trophy 15 times. This year, the Tiger Lights will try to win both the Eastern Sprints and IRA National Championship for the third consecutive year.
The Lightweight Men have had success beyond the bounds of the United States. Following the undefeated 2009 season, the Tiger Lights took their talents across the pond to compete for the Temple Challenge Cup. The Tigers capped off the season with a perfect ending by winning the Temple Challenge Cup for Old Nassau. After last season's success, the Tigers took another trip to Henley-on-Thames, this time with a four with coxswain to compete for the Prince Albert Challenge Cup.
